Product Description
PVDF CH2CF2 N for Your Business Needs CAS No. 24937-79-9
Products Description
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a highly non-reactive thermoplastic fluorinated polymer. It can be synthesized by polymerization of 1,1 - difluoroethylene. Dissolved in dimethyl acetamide and other strong polar solvents. Aging resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance, UV radiation resistance and other excellent properties. Can be used as engineering plastics, used in sealing ring corrosion resistant equipment, capacitors, also used as coatings, insulation materials and ion exchange membrane materials.

Specification
PVDF is mainly used for high purity requirements, at the same time need to resist solvent and acid-base corrosion occasions. PVDF has a lower density (1.78g/cm) than other fluoropolymers, such as Teflon. PVDF can be used in the production of pipe, plate, film, substrate and cable insulation. It can also be injection-molded or welded, and is widely used in the chemical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical and defense industries, such as lithium-ion batteries. In addition, it can also be made into cross-linked closed-cell foams, which are increasingly used in the aerospace field. Fine powder grade PVDF, such as KYNAR 500 PVDF and HYLAR 5000 PVDF, can be used to manufacture high-end metallic coatings. This paint has extremely high gloss and color stability. It can be found in many famous buildings, such as the Twin Peaks Tower and Taipei 101. Commercial buildings and residential metal roofing can also be used. PVDF films can be used to fix proteins in Western blotting because of their nonspecific affinity for amino acids. In 1969, researchers discovered that PVDF has a strong piezoelectric effect: the piezoelectric coefficient of a polarized (i.e. putting in a strong electric field to produce a net dipole moment) film is 6-7pC/N, more than 10 times greater than the corresponding value for polymers discovered at the time. The glass conversion temperature (Tg) of PVDF is about −35°C, and the crystallinity is usually 50-60%. To impart piezoelectric properties to a material, it is usually first mechanically stretched along the direction of a molecular chain and then polarised under tension. PVDF has several solid phases: α (TGTG'), β (TTTT), and γ (TTTGTTTG'). The difference between these phases is wh the chain is cis (T) or trans (G). PVDF becomes ferroelectric polymer after polarization, which has good piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. These properties allow it to be used in sensors and batteries, such as the sensors used in some new thermograph cameras. Unlike some other piezoelectric materials, such as PZT, PVDF has a negative d33 value. In a physical sense, this means that PVDF will contract when other materials expand in an electric field, and vice versa.

Application
Because of its elasticity, low weight, low thermal conductivity, high chemical corrosion resistance, heat resistance and other excellent properties, PVDF is often used to make the insulation skin of wire. PVDF insulation is commonly used in thin 30 gauge wires used in winding circuits and printed circuit boards. Cables with PVDF insulation are often referred to as "Kynar cables" under the PVDF brand name. PVDF is often used to produce tactile sensor arrays, inexpensive strain gauges, and lightweight audio transducers due to its piezoelectric properties.
PVDF is also the standard binder for lithium battery composite electrodes: Mixing PVDF soluble in 1-2% N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) with active lithium storage materials such as graphite, silicon, tin, LiCoO2, LiMn2O4 or LiFePO4 and conductive additives such as carbon black or carbon nanofibers, The slurry is then poured on a metal collector and the NMP is evaporated to form a composite electrode or paste electrode.
PVDF can be used in this situation because it is chemically inert in the battery charging and discharging potential range and does not react with electrolytes or lithium. In the biomedical field, PVDF films are commonly used in western blotting, on which proteins are electrophoreted. Because PVDF is resistant to solvent corrosion, the film used in the test can be easily peeled off and reused to detect other proteins.
PVDF films can also be used to make syringe - or wheeled membrane filters. The material's heat and chemical resistance and low protein binding properties allow it to be used as a disinfecting filter in the preparation of drugs and as a filter in the preparation of samples for analysis such as HPLC, preventing damage to expensive equipment due to small amounts of particulate matter in these samples. PVDF can also be used to make professional monofilament fishing line as an alternative to traditional nylon monofilament. Its hard surface is more resistant to abrasion by sharp teeth, and its optical density is lower than nylon, making the line less visible to the keen eye. It is also denser than nylon, allowing the line to sink faster towards the fish.
Compared with semiconductor piezoresistive sensors, PVDF sensors are more suitable for dynamic modal testing and have certain advantages over piezoelectric ceramic transducers in terms of structural integration. Active sensors using PVDF are important for the future development of structural health monitoring due to their lower cost and greater compatibility.
